This funding will allow the department to hire additional firefighters, which will strengthen response capabilities and help keep Belmont residents safe.\u201d\n\n\u201cOn behalf of Belmont Mayor Joe Jordan and Belmont City Council, we sincerely thank Congressman Tim Moore for supporting the Belmont Fire Department\u2019s SAFER grant application,\u201dsaid Alex Hardee, Deputy Fire Chief of the Belmont Fire Department. \u201cThis grant will provide three operational positions that are paramount to Belmont\u2019s public safety initiatives.\u201d\n\nOver the past three years, the Belmont Fire Department has experienced a roughly 70% increase in call volume. Despite these increasing demands, the department continues to operate with limited staffing.
