They will then all be killed.\nThe Department for Veterans Affairs (VA) says the experiments will help medics find methods of treating wounded soldiers, with a VA spokesperson reportedly saying that dogs are 'the only viable model' for the tests.\nAnimal experiments  \n\tBut not all veterans' groups support the experiments, with a spokesperson for Paralysed Veterans of America telling USA Today: \"We no longer oppose efforts to end VA fatal medical research on dogs.\"\nAnother critic is Democrat Dina Titus, who said: \"It's not economically sound, they could be looking at new technologies, and morally people just don't support testing on puppies.\"\nAccording to the VA, the most recent breakthrough discoveries made as a result of canine experiments date back to the 1960s.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://titus.house.gov/in-the-news/plant-based-news-us-government-to-carry-out-controversial-experiments-on-dogs-despite"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.0325857438147068, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
