(Nov. 29, 2017)—Congressman Tom Garrett (R-VA) made the following statement regarding the passage of H.Res. 630, a resolution to requiring each member, office, and employee of the House of Representatives to complete a program of training in workplace rights and responsibilities each session of Congress:
“Sexual harassment and misconduct in the workplace is intolerable. Working on a team that is fifty percent female, and as a husband, and father of three daughters, I am proud that our team completed training in workplace rights, including sexual harassment, well before it was mandated. Every member of our team deserves the right to a safe and fair work environment, and as a co-sponsor of this Resolution, I commend my colleagues for working to ensure that every Member of Congress and staff completes a program of training in workplace rights and responsibilities annually. Changes like this, not only do we better protect workplace rights, but we also allow for a more effective team to serve our respective districts.”
###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://tomgarrett.house.gov/media/press-releases/garrett-votes-mandate-harassment-training
