Tom Graves Votes to End \u2018Operation Chokepoint,\u2019 Help Consumers\n                    \n                    \n                        \n                    \n                    \n                    \n                    \n                    \n                        \n                            Washington,\n                            December 12, 2017\u00a0-\n                        Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) yesterday voted for and the House passed the Financial Institution Customer Protection Act (H.R. 2706), bipartisan legislation prohibiting the Department of Justice and federal banking regulators from forcing financial institutions to terminate customer accounts for political reasons.\u201cThe Obama administration used Operation Chokepoint to block businesses they disliked \u2013 such as gun stores and short-term lenders \u2013 from accessing bank loans and other financial services,\u201d said Rep. Graves. \u201cIt was an undeniable abuse of power. This legislation eliminates Operation Chokepoint and prohibits any future administration from implementing a similar program.\u201dRep.
