Tonko (D-NY) announced a slate of 15 community development and improvement projects across New York\u2019s 20th Congressional District totaling $12,849,613 that he secured as part of the final 2023 appropriations government funding package.\n\n\u201cThe community projects in our Capital Region bring incredible promise for our communities with key investments that will drive economic growth, create good jobs and propel our Capital Region forward,\u201d Congressman Tonko said. \u201cFor months, my team and I have been pushing to ensure these worthy projects are included in a federal spending package, and I\u2019m delighted to announce that determined push has been successful. My heartfelt thanks to the dedicated local leaders who proposed and developed these deserving projects. I look forward to seeing how these federal dollars will unleash the untapped potential of our region and ignite our economy.\u201d\n\nTonko championed funding for 15 projects that will directly benefit Capital Region residents. In alphabetical order these include:\n\n$469,333 for the Business Incubator, Amsterdam, New York\n\n$540,000 for the Charlton Community Center, Charlton, New York\n\n$800,000 for the Employment Services Facility Improvement Project, Troy, New York\n\n$650,000 for the Esperanza Verde Park, Amsterdam, New York\n\n$400,000 for the Hoffman Park Community Center Improvements, Albany, New York\n\n$2,358,292 for the HOMEBASE - Combatting Social Isolation Stigma in the Mental Health Community, Saratoga Springs, New York\n\n$2,065,000 for the Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, NY for STEM and healthcare workforce development\n\n$500,000 for the Little Italy's Neighborhood Placemaking for Economic Development, Troy, New York\n\n$770,088 for the Maria College, Albany, NY for nursing programs, including technology and equipment\n\n$505,359 for the Matton Shipyard Preservation and Adaptive Reuse Initiative, Waterford, New York\n\n$1,500,000 for the Schenectady Community Action Program Campus Project, Schenectady, New York\n\n$1,000,000 for the Schenectady Community Virtual Power Plant\n\n$496,541 for the Siena College, Loudonville, NY for facilities and equipment\n\n$750,000 for the Transitional Housing and Services for LGBT and Gender Non-Conforming, Albany, New York\n\n$45,000 for the Village of Fultonville for Drinking Water Upgrades Project\n\nAdditional project descriptions can be found on Tonko\u2019s website HERE.\n\nThe twelve-bill government funding package will create good-paying American jobs, grow opportunity for the middle class and small businesses, and provide a lifeline for working families.
