Baxter and Judge Marilyn J. Horan to the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and Judge Chad Kenney to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, U.S. Senators Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Bob Casey (D-Pa.) released the following statements:\n\"I am pleased that President Trump will nominate Judge Susan P. Baxter, Judge Marilyn J. Horan, and Judge Chad Kenney to serve on the federal district court in Pennsylvania,\" said Senator Toomey. \"Along with a wealth of legal experience from their work in both the public and private sectors, these nominees possess the acumen needed to excel as federal judges. Today's announcement is especially welcome news for Erie, as Judge Baxter will finally fill the city's judicial seat, which has been vacant for far too long.\"\n\"I applaud the White House for announcing the nominations of Judges Baxter, Horan and Kenney for the federal bench in Pennsylvania,\" said Senator Casey. \"These are critically important federal seats that have been vacant for far too long, and I am thankful that these three distinguished jurists are willing to serve the people of Pennsylvania in a new role. Judges Horan and Kenney are highly experienced legal professionals, and I am confident that they will continue to serve as District Judges with the fairness and honor these positions require. I am also particularly pleased to hear that Judge Baxter has been nominated to the Western District seat in Erie that has been vacant since 2013. In her two decades as a Federal Magistrate Judge, Susan Baxter has demonstrated an admirable commitment to justice, integrity and public service, a record and reputation that will serve her well as she is elevated to become a Federal District Judge.\" Since Senator Toomey joined the Senate in 2011, Senators Toomey and Casey have worked together, in a bipartisan fashion, to fill vacancies on the federal bench in Pennsylvania. Together, they have vetted, recommended, and confirmed 14 Federal District Court Judges and two Circuit Court Judges for Pennsylvania. Only two states - California and New York - have had more judges confirmed to their federal benches during this time.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://toomey.senate.gov?p=news&id=2075"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6039349138736725, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
