This important legislation from my friend and colleague Rep. Candice Miller is a key step toward stopping terrorists and ISIS inspired killers from entering the United States. With news reports that the female terrorist in San Bernardino may have not been properly vetted when entering the nation, there is absolutely no room for error when it comes to protecting the American people. I am hopeful this bill will be adopted in the Senate and signed by the President quickly so that terrorists determined to hurt Americans cannot exploit vulnerabilities in our national security.\nThe legislation, supported by Rep. Trott, addresses the vulnerabilities of the Visa Waiver Program by requiring participating countries to provide counterterrorism information and other crucial intelligence, identifying and allowing for the suspension of high-risk countries, and denying Visa Waiver Program status for those who have traveled to terrorist hotspots, like Iraq and Syria, since 2011.\nCreated in 1986, the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows more than 20 million people annually from 38 participating countries to more easily travel to the U.S. for up to 90 days.
