The project is expected to break ground in the spring of 2015 and be completed in 2017.\r\n\r\n\tThe new Trial Court will include modern technology for enhanced security and energy efficiency.\r\n\r\n\tCongresswoman Niki Tsongas released the following statement.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cThis new courthouse will be a modern cutting-edge, energy efficient building that will set a new standard for sustainable design and quality of environment for visitors and staff.\u00a0 It will serve as a new landmark in the heart of Lowell and a symbol of the city\u2019s reinvention.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cI thank and applaud Governor Patrick for his leadership on this project and his staunch support for the City of Lowell and the surrounding region. In addition, the efforts of Senator EileenDonoghue and State Representatives Tom Golden, David Nangle and Kevin Murphy helped bring this project to fruition.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cThroughout the rejuvenation of the Hamilton Canal District, my office has worked closely with all parties across all levels of government and the private sector to secure funding and keep this transformative project moving forward.
