We can and we must pass the Momnibus immediately.\u201d\n\nAmerica has the highest maternal mortality rate of any high-income country, and more than 80 percent of these deaths are preventable. Underwood, who serves as a co-founder and co-chair of the Black Maternal Health Caucus, wrote and re-introduced the Momnibus in 2021. The legislation makes critical investments to support community-based organizations, address social determinants of maternal health, grow and diversify the perinatal workforce, expand access to care for people with maternal mental health conditions and substance use disorders, and advance maternal health research.\n\nThe Momnibus is gaining momentum.
