Vasquez Presses Administration to Return Tariff Taxes to New Mexicans, Not Corporations", "2026-08-13", "2026", "2026-08", "Democrat", "House", "NM", "Gabe Vasquez", "V000136", "vasquez.house.gov", "vasquez", "https://vasquez.house.gov/media/press-releases", "scraper", "WASHINGTON D.C. \u2013 On August 12, 2026, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott demanding that they push corporations to return the money from the Administration\u2019s illegal tariffs to the consumers who paid for them.\n\nThe cost of the President\u2019s tariffs was paid by consumers in the form of higher prices \u2013 costing Americans about $1,000 last year.
