Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, a member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement regarding passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013:\nHoosiers sit around their kitchen tables and make tough choices to keep a budget, and they expect Washington to do the same.  Today, the House took a step in the right direction by passing a budget plan with bipartisan support.  This deal is not perfect, but it serves as a building block for deficit reduction and long term reformswithout raising taxes.  \nApproval of this plan will provide much-needed certainty for the business community and improve economic outlook.  Without a doubt, there is still much work to be done to balance the budget, reduce government spending, and address tax reform.  Moving forward, I will continue reaching across the aisle to get our fiscal house in order to ensure a brighter future for the next generation.\nIn a divided government, working together is a necessity, not an option.  I urge my colleagues in the Senate to pass this deal to prove that Congress can work together for the sake of the American people.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://walorski.house.gov/walorski-statement-on-bipartisan-budget-act-of-2013/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.4791309367865324, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
