Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) issued the following statement today after the United Nations Security Council\u2019s passage of an anti-Israel resolution:\r\n\r\n\t\u201cI condemn in the strongest of terms the United Nations Security Council's passage of\u00a0this one-sided, anti-Israel resolution, as well as the United States' reckless\u00a0abstention.\u00a0As\u00a0a Member of the State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, I opposed this resolution\u00a0because our nation has consistently supported direct, bilateral negotiations as the only viable method to achieve a lasting peace. In fact, this irresponsible\u00a0action moves us further away from peace and hastens the likelihood that we lose the trust of our allies around the world.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cLet me be clear: the only way to resolve this conflict is - and will always be - through direct, bilateral negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. \u00a0It is baffling and unacceptable that\u00a0the Obama Administration would abstain on this blatant attempt to internationalize this conflict and perpetuate the UN's atrocious\u00a0and biased\u00a0record\u00a0against our only true and dependable ally in the Middle East, the State of\u00a0Israel.\u00a0Simply put, today's vote did nothing to bring us any closer to a lasting peace.
