Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) issues the following statement after this evening\u2019s House vote to pass the CASH Act and to override President Trump\u2019s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act:\n\n\u201cMillions of struggling Americans are counting on Congress to deliver the level of assistance that this historic health and economic crisis demands, and I was proud to vote for the CASH Act, which would provide that vital, more robust $2,000 lifeline. There is so much more that needs to be done and Democrats will continue to champion the assistance that families and our states and local communities need, once a new Congress and President take office. I\u2019m proud that the House did its job tonight. Now it\u2019s up to Senators to finish the job and vote for the kind of real relief that families need at this dark, trying time in our history.\n\nI am also pleased that nearly every House Democrat banded together with a majority of Republicans to override President Trump\u2019s irresponsible and cruel veto of the National Defense Authorization Act. For the President to prioritize honoring Confederate traitors over national security and a pay raise for our troops was reckless and repulsive. The improved housing, health and salary resources our servicemembers would receive in the NDAA should never have been endangered by Trump\u2019s pathetic attempt to preserve the names on our military bases of those who fought to preserve slavery and betrayed America.
