{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://web.archive.org/web/20131122141914/http://goodlatte.house.gov/press_releases/461", "GOODLATTE NAMES PEOPLE PLACES 'ANGEL IN ADOPTION'", "2013-10-09", "2013", "2013-10", "Republican", "House", "VA", "Robert Goodlatte", "G000289", "web.archive.org", null, null, "legacy", "GOODLATTE NAMES PEOPLE PLACES 'ANGEL IN ADOPTION' \n                      \n                      \tWASHINGTON, D.C.\u00a0 \u2013 Congressman Bob Goodlatte, a member of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, named People Places as the Sixth District of Virginia\u2019s 2013 \u201cAngel in Adoption.\u201d\u00a0 The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute\u2019s Angels in Adoption Program is designed to celebrate individuals, couples, or organizations from across the nation that have made an extraordinary contribution on behalf of children in need of homes.\u00a0 Members of Congress have the opportunity to honor one nominee from each congressional district who is making a difference in the lives of children. \u201cPeople Places has made a tremendous impact in the lives of children and families throughout the region,\u201d said Congressman Goodlatte. \u201cThe principle starts with their name \u2013 the goal of this organization is to provide healing for troubled children in \u2018people places\u2019 or families, instead of facilities.\u00a0 They are truly putting the well-being of the children they serve first and working diligently to provide the necessary support and care.\u00a0 What started as a vision has transformed over the years into a reality that is today serving more than 100 children.\u201d Founded in 1973, People Places was the first therapeutic foster care (TFC) program in Virginia and one of the pioneers in the nation. The agency's mission is to create effective community-based treatment services for troubled children and youth as an alternative to residential placement.\u00a0 They have had 37 discharges in 2013, with 81 percent of those to less restrictive settings, including adoption or reunification with family.\u00a0 This year they are on track for a record number of adoptions, with 15 adoptions finalized thus far.\u00a0 Currently, People Places works with approximately 90 families in the Shenandoah Valley and nearly 40 families in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area. \u00a0 \u201cIt is my honor to recognize People Places as this year\u2019s \u2018Angel in Adoption,\u2019\u201d said Congressman Goodlatte.\u00a0 \u201cI congratulate People Places on 40 years of service and thank them, and the families they work with, for their dedication to making better lives for children in our community.\u201d\n                      \n                      \t###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20131122141914/http://goodlatte.house.gov/press_releases/461"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.5318519435822964, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
