By removing burdensome red tape from our nation’s ability to explore and produce energy opportunities we can grow good paying jobs, kick start the economy and put America on a path to true energy independence.
Our nation is blessed with abundant natural beauty as well as national resources – one should not be sacrificed for the other. At the same time, we must also be conscious of the effects of our pursuits on the environment we live in. I will continue to support common sense ways to make the most of our resources and protect our environment.”
Federal Lands Jobs and Energy Security Act [H.R. 1965]
This bill would remove government roadblocks and bureaucratic red-tape that obstruct and delay American energy production and job creation by reforming the leasing process for onshore oil and natural gas projects on federal lands to eliminate unnecessary delays and setting clear rules for the development of U.S. oil shale resources. (Passed the House 228-192)
Protecting States Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act [H.R. 2728]
This bipartisan legislation reduces the Federal regulatory burden on states when it comes to hydraulic fracturing for natural gas. States offer the most effective regulation for this type of energy production - blocking expensive and ineffective duplicate regulations saves states money and allows them to better serve their needs. (Passed the House 235-187)
Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act [H.R. 1900]:
The bill modernizes the pipeline permitting process by setting realistic deadlines for approval while also ensuring environmental requirements are met. (Passed the House 252-165)
###
Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
