If a final agreement is reached that dismantles Iran’s illicit nuclear infrastructure, brings Iran into compliance with U.N. Security Council resolutions, and satisfies other conditions, new sanctions may be suspended.
“As lawmakers, we have no greater responsibility than to ensure that the United States pursues policies that maximize our security interests, as well as those of our allies. This legislation is consistent with that responsibility, and I believe, will improve the chances of reaching a final agreement with Iran that will eliminate its illicit nuclear program.”

       Tags:

                                Iran,

                                Nuclear Weapons,

                                National Security,

                                Foreign Relations,

                                Foreign Relations Committee,

                                Sanctions", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://web.archive.org/web/20140221012046/http://www.coons.senate.gov/newsroom/releases/release/statement-from-senator-coons-on-the-nuclear-weapon-free-iran-act
