Bill Nelson (D-FL), the U.S. commercial launch indemnification regime helps domestic launch companies compete in the global launch market. \u00a0Many international competitors enjoy similar protections in their various home nations.    \t\u00a0    \tThe legislation, led by Nelson, would extend the expiration date of commercial launch indemnification from Dec. 31, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2016. \u00a0 Supporting Nelson\u2019s initiative were Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Marco Rubio (R-FL), John Thune (R-SD), Mark Udall (D-CO), Tom Udall (D-NM), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).\u00a0    \t\u00a0    \t\u201cA competitive launch industry is critical to our national space program, so this legislation is a common sense move,\u201d said Nelson. \u201cThe certainty of a three year extension will help the U.S. commercial space industry continue to grow and thrive, both here in Florida and around the country.\u201d\u00a0    \t\u00a0    \tThe measure passed unanimously in the Senate and now goes to the House.   ###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20140221023002/http://www.billnelson.senate.gov/news/details.cfm?id=349202&"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9525080677121878, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
