Chuck Grassley of Iowa today participated in a bipartisan senators\u2019 meeting with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy to discuss the Obama Administration\u2019s proposed reduction in the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).\u00a0 Grassley made the following comment after the meeting.\n\u00a0\n\u201cI\u2019m glad Administrator McCarthy listened to senators\u2019 concerns.\u00a0 I tried to impress upon her that while President Obama and his administration have claimed to be in favor of domestic biofuels, this proposal is a step backward and will harm our efforts to further diversify our fuel supply.\u00a0 The fact is, the blend wall is a result of Big Oil\u2019s obstruction to higher ethanol blends, and EPA\u2019s proposal rewards its obstruction.\u00a0 The Administrator heard a lot about the harm this proposal would do to the environment, our national and energy security, and our rural economies.\u00a0 I also personally relayed the request of the entire Iowa delegation to host a field hearing in Iowa to hear directly from farmers and biofuels producers about the benefits of the RFS.\u201d \n\u00a0\nThe bipartisan letter requesting a field hearing in Iowa is available here. \n\u00a0\nMore on Grassley\u2019s views on the proposed reduction is available here.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20140221043423/http://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/Article.cfm?customel_dataPageID_1502=47812"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.3458591420203447, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
