{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://web.archive.org/web/20140221044434/http://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/Article.cfm?customel_dataPageID_1502=47809", "Grassley Responds to Chairman Leahy's statement on Judiciary Committee matters", "2013-12-18", "2013", "2013-12", "Republican", "House", "IA", "Charles Grassley", "G000386", "web.archive.org", null, null, "legacy", "Senator Chuck Grassley, Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, made the following comment in response to a statement released earlier today by the Judiciary Committee Chairman. \u201cThere\u2019s no doubt that after the Democrats broke the rules to change the rules, it\u2019s going to be harder to get things done.\u00a0 There is only one party that voted for the irresponsible rules change.\u00a0 And, the fact of the matter is that given the atmosphere the Democrats created by invoking the nuclear option, nominations are going to be given added scrutiny. \u201cIt\u2019s interesting that Democrats are blaming Republicans for not being at an executive business meeting last month.\u00a0 They must have a short memory.\u00a0 That was the very day and time that the Democrats decided to ignore two centuries of Senate history and precedent to break the rules and invoked the nuclear option with a simple majority vote, thereby disrupting the committee mark-up. \u00a0 \u201cThe so-called obstruction of nominees is a figment of the Democrats\u2019 imagination.\u00a0 They are blatantly misleading the public.\u00a0 We have confirmed 44 judicial nominees this year alone.\u00a0 To put this number in context, the Democrats allowed only 21 of President Bush\u2019s judicial nominees to be confirmed in the fifth year of his presidency.\u00a0\u00a0 The only thing being obstructed is the rights of the minority. \u201cNow, they are resorting to new threats at the committee level.\u00a0 It\u2019s a sad commentary on the Democrats\u2019 rule of the Senate and the Obama administration.\u00a0 They are slowly but surely taking the world\u2019s greatest deliberative body and moving towards a majoritarian body, all in the name of rubberstamping the President\u2019s extremely unpopular regulatory agenda.\u201d", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20140221044434/http://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/Article.cfm?customel_dataPageID_1502=47809"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.8287168350070715, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
