Wilson (FL-24) issued the following statement after the US House of Representatives passed the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013:\n\n\t\u201cBudgets are moral documents.\u00a0 While this budget deal takes some important moral stands by safeguarding entitlements including Social Security and softening Sequestration\u2019s savage cuts\u2014which fall on teachers, firefighters, medical researchers, and other hardworking Americans\u2014it fails to uphold Congress\u2019s moral obligation to millions who have been locked out of the job market.\n\n\tEven as America recovers from the Great Recession, the plight of the long-term unemployed remains as serious as ever.\u00a0 My top priorities for 2014 are to restore unemployment insurance and\u2014above all else\u2014to return Congress to its rightful focus: Jobs!
