{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://web.archive.org/web/20140221102922/http://sarbanes.house.gov/release_details.asp?id=456", "Sarbanes Encouraged by Expansion of Telework at Federal Agencies", "2013-12-18", "2013", "2013-12", "Democrat", "House", "MD", "John Sarbanes", "S001168", "web.archive.org", null, null, "legacy", "Sarbanes Encouraged by Expansion of Telework at Federal Agencies  Implementation of Sarbanes\u2019 Telework Enhancement Act is improving government efficiency and flexibility for federal workers  TOWSON \u2013 U.S. Congressman John Sarbanes applauded a report released today by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) that shows substantial progress has been made in implementing the Telework Enhancement Act, a bill he authored and was signed into law three years ago. \u201cTelework provides common-sense workplace flexibility that benefits federal workers, improves traffic congestion in our region, and enhances continuity of operation for our federal government,\u201d said Congressman Sarbanes. \u201cOPM\u2019s new report shows that federal agencies are making good progress in the development of strong telework programs that will increase productivity and efficiency.\u201d The report, available here, details how federal agencies have put comprehensive telework policies in place and increased overall telework eligibility by nearly 50 percent. The number of employees with standing telework agreements has increased by more than 80 percent. By standing up a framework of best telework practices, OPM is coordinating an agency-wide effort to create a productive government and address other pressing issues like traffic congestion and quality of life for federal workers.  This month marks the third anniversary of the Telework Enhancement Act.
