Adkins and Donald P. Sloat, two heroes of the Vietnam War whose bravery has gone unrecognized for far too long.\u00a0 We passed legislation to help tackle the VA\u2019s backlog on disability claims.\u00a0 And, we passed legislation improving our nation\u2019s work to assist veterans with education and employment opportunities. \u00a0While we can never repay their sacrifices, we must always offer our support and our gratitude.\u201d\nThe House today passed H.R. 3304, \u201cto authorize and request the President to award the Medal of Honor to Bennie G. Adkins and Donald P. Sloat of the United States Army for acts of valor during the Vietnam Conflict.\u201d\u00a0 In addition, the following bills today passed the House with strong bipartisan support:\nH.R. 1742 \u2014Vulnerable Veterans Housing Reform Act of 2013\nH.R. 2189 \u2014 To establish a commission or task force to evaluate the backlog of disability claims of the Department of Veterans Affairs\nH.R. 2481 \u2014 The Veterans Economic Opportunity Act of 2013\nH.R. 2011 \u2014Veterans\u2019 Advisory Committee on Education Improvement Act\nH.R. 1405 \u2014 To amend title 38, United States Code, to require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to include an appeals form in any notice of decision issued for the denial of a benefit sought", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20140221102931/http://pearce.house.gov/press-release/pearce-remember-our-veterans"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8038659580051899, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
