While imperfect, the agreement signed into law two years ago called ‘sequestration’ is a tool that has held our spending under control as we were supposed to be working towards a larger solution to get us out of the fiscal ditch we have dug for the next generation.
“The simple fact is that our government spends too much. Our country remains in a crisis of excessive spending, and we cannot return to this path of trillion dollar budgets.”
###

      f
      t
      #
      e", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://web.archive.org/web/20140221143531/http://webster.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=364367
