Johnson connects struggling homeowners with HomeSafe program, CredAbility counselors \nLITHONIA, GA \u2013 Local homeowners participated in Saturday\u2019s HomeSafe Georgia foreclosure prevention event at Salem Bible Church in Lithonia hosted by Rep. Hank Johnson along with representatives from credit counseling agency CredAbility.\nThe event provided opportunities for homeowners to meet with counselors to see if they are eligible for HomeSafe Georgia or a loan modification.\nHomeSafe is designed to provide temporary assistance to Georgia homeowners who are able and willing to work but have suffered a substantial income loss due to involuntary unemployment or underemployment.\nMore than two years ago, Georgia received $340 million from President Obama\u2019s \u201cHardest Hit Fund\u201d\u2013 known as HomeSafe in Georgia \u2013 to help unemployed homeowners avoid foreclosures.
