Hastings (D-Fla.) and Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) in reintroducing the \u201cNational Commission on Employment and Economic Security Act.\u201d\nCongressman John Conyers, Jr. (D-Mich.): \u201cWith the ongoing jobs crisis in America, I am fully supportive of the re-introduction of the National Commission on Employment and Economic Security Act, which will study the impact of unemployment and economic insecurity Americans face and then offer remedies. Over the last year a quarter of the American population was unemployed or underemployed, and did not earn enough to support their basic needs. We must act to curtail these circumstances before they become entrenched and systemic. I truly believe this is a measure both parties can come together to support and shed light on the real effect and devastation unemployment causes, and in turn lead the Congress to work on legislation that creates jobs for all Americans.\u201d\nCongressman Alcee L.
