The letter, led by Reed and Congressman John Barrow (D-GA) offers a joint commitment to work together toward that end.\n\u201cOur message is a simple one, and one we are serious about: we want to work together and do what it takes to reach a budget agreement,\u201d Congressman Reed said. \u201cJoint efforts will be most effective as leaders draft a conference budget report aimed at improving our country\u2019s fiscal situation long-term.\u201d\n\u201cOutside the spotlight of the national media a coalition of Republicans and Democrats actually want to work together to address our long-term budget problems,\u201d said Congressman Barrow.\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re committed to finding common ground on these issues, and in order to do that we have to work together with budget negotiators.\u201d\nThe letter states: \u201cAs solution-oriented Members of Congress, we strive to find common ground on some of the most serious challenges before us. Like many Americans, we agree that the gridlock in Washington has to stop. We urge you to find commonsense, bipartisan solutions to the serious fiscal challenges we face as a nation.\u201d\n\u201cWe stand ready to work with you on a bipartisan solution that solves our nation\u2019s fiscal problems,\u201d the letter continues. \u201cWe believe that what unites us far exceeds what divides us.
