Butterfield (NC-01) held a telephone town hall meeting to answer First District residents\u2019 questions on the Affordable Care Act and on open enrollment in the new Health Insurance Marketplace, which began on October 1.\u00a0 The live telephone town hall started at 6:30 p.m. and lasted over an hour with more than 8,500 district residents joining the call.\n\n\t\u201cThe high number of participants shows that people are eager to get the information they need to get affordable health insurance,\u201d Butterfield said.\u00a0 \u201cThere has been a lot of misinformation surrounding the costs, benefits, and enrollment.\u00a0 Yesterday\u2019s forum dispelled many of those myths and gave residents the information necessary to make informed decisions when selecting healthcare coverage.\u201d\n\n\tIn North Carolina\u2019s First Congressional District alone, Obamacare has helped 94,000 seniors have received Medicare preventive services without paying anything out-of-pocket; more than 5,000 young adults have coverage through their parents\u2019 health insurance; about 400 small businesses received tax credits to expand care to employees; and 34,000 children with preexisting health conditions are no longer denied coverage by insurers.\u00a0\n\n\tTo enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace visit, www.healthcare.gov.\u00a0 Open enrollment continues through March 31, 2014.\u00a0\u00a0\n  \n\n\t###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20140301060725/http://butterfield.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=22&itemid=702"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7939571514725685, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
