The deal isn't\u00a0a solution to our biggest challenges, and it doesn\u2019t extend\u00a0critically\u00a0important unemployment benefits, but it\u00a0does avert\u00a0another irresponsible government shutdown, replace a portion of the harmful sequester cuts and invest in core initiatives like infrastructure and research and development that help our economy grow.\"\u00a0\nThe deal provides a budget for the next two fiscal years, setting overall discretionary spending for the current fiscal year at $1.012 trillion, halfway between the House budget level of $967 billion and the Senate budget level of $1.058 trillion. It provides $63 billion in sequester relief over two years that will be split between defense and non-defense programs and reduces the deficit by between $20 and $23 billion.\nRep. Schneider, a member of the House Small Business Committee, has long called for a sensible budget that gives certainty to our small businesses and has been vocal about his opposition to the harmful sequester cuts.
