{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://web.archive.org/web/20140404053656/http://pearce.house.gov/press-release/pearce-votes-protect-american-workers", "PEARCE VOTES TO PROTECT AMERICAN WORKERS", "2014-04-03", "2014", "2014-04", "Republican", "House", "NM", "Steve Pearce", "P000588", "web.archive.org", null, null, "legacy", "April 3, 2014 (Washington, D.C.) \u2013 Today, the House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 2575, the Save American Worker Act.\u00a0 Congressman Pearce, a cosponsor of this legislation, issued the following statement:\n\u201cThe House voted today not only to reduce unnecessary and duplicative burden on thousands of small businesses nationwide, but also to protect jobs for those most in need,\u201d said Pearce.\u00a0 \u201cUnder Obamacare, full-time employment is defined as a 30 hour workweek.\u00a0 Unfortunately, this change creates great conflict within the federal code, which will result in more regulatory burdens on small employers and threatens the hours and employment of predominantly low-income American workers.\n\u201cAs a former small business owner, I know how burdensome the government can be on employers.\u00a0 Congress and this administration should be focused on policies that incentivize employers to hire new workers and increase hours \u2013 not call into question the livelihood of millions.\u201d\nH.R. 2575 repeals the 30-hour full-time employment definition within Obamacare, replacing it with the standard 40-hour definition.\u00a0 Without this simple change, the Hoover Institute estimates that as many as 2.6 million jobs are at risk of reduced hours if the 30-hour rule stays in effect.\u00a0 The House of Representatives passed H.R. 2575 by a bipartisan final vote of 248 to 179.\n\u00a0\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20140404053656/http://pearce.house.gov/press-release/pearce-votes-protect-american-workers"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.4858539216220379, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
