From shadow lists to clear evidence of destroyed documents, veterans are needlessly dying because of VA actions. Veterans deserve better. When Enron falsified documents and continually lied, people went to jail. What makes this situation any different? Nationwide, including the Albuquerque VA system, hospitals are being accused of great injustices. This cannot and must not stand. The deaths of these veterans have been completely unnessary.\"\n\"Once again, I call on President Obama to take action on the most recent failure and demand that those responsible and involved in the wrongful death of veterans nationwide be terminated and, if necessary, held criminally responsible, instead of paying out bonuses to bureaucrats under investigation by the Inspector General,\" Pearce continued. \"For the past 10 years, I have fought for greater transparency and care within our VA system, and called on VA centers in Albuquerque and El Paso to correct deficiencies in care. The men and women who risked their lives to protect our nation deserve a VA that will guarantee the benefits our nation owes them.\"\nNOTE: Congressman Pearce, a Vietnam War veteran, supported efforts this week to pass legislation providing the Secretary of the VA with additional powers to demote and fire senior employees within the department. This legislation, entitled H.R. 4031, The Department of Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act of 2014, passed the House of Representatives by a final vote of 390 to 33.
