{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://web.archive.org/web/20140711004622/http://www.collins.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=c1802c04-c6f7-49ca-aa45-70dff7763692", "Shaheen, Collins Introduce Amendment to Expand Access to National Parks For Disabled Veterans", "2014-07-08", "2014", "2014-07", "Republican", "House", "ME", "Susan Collins", "C001035", "web.archive.org", null, null, "legacy", "Bipartisan amendment to sportsmen\u2019s bill would give all disabled veterans lifetime National Parks pass for hunting, fishing and recreation    \n\t\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t(Washington, DC) \u2013 U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today introduced an amendment to bipartisan sportsmen\u2019s legislation to make all veterans with a service-connected disability eligible for a free, lifetime pass allowing entry to National Parks and other recreational lands and waters held by the United States.\u00a0 Shaheen and Collin\u2019s amendment is based on the bipartisan Wounded Veterans Recreation Act the Senators introduced in May, which would amend the decade-old Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA) to give eligible veterans a lifetime parks pass to enjoy hunting, fishing and other recreation on public lands.\n\u201cEach of our service-disabled veterans, no matter his or her injury, deserves the opportunity to enjoy the soil they fought to protect and for which they have sacrificed,\u201d Shaheen said. \u201cAs we are considering legislation surrounding sportsmen and recreational opportunities, it is only appropriate that we think of our wounded veterans and give them lifetime access to enjoy hunting, fishing and other recreation.\u201d\u00a0\n\u201cAs the Senate considers the Bipartisan Sportsmen\u2019s Act, it is fitting that we also ensure that all our wounded veterans have access to the free, lifetime pass to enjoy our national parks and federal recreational lands,\u201d Collins said.\nThe amendment introduced today would specifically amend the 2004 FLREA law which specifies that veterans need to be classified as having a 100 percent permanent disability by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in order to be eligible for a free National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20140711004622/http://www.collins.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=c1802c04-c6f7-49ca-aa45-70dff7763692"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9680869989097118, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
