There is no question that America\u2019s seniors deserve security and stability in their golden years after working hard throughout their lives, and I am fully committed to protecting Social Security for our elderly and disabled.\u201d\nPresident Franklin Roosevelt signed Social Security into law on August 14, 1935. Since then, the Social Security program has been the foundation of income for millions of seniors and families, many of whom urgently need it.
