Rick Snyder signing so-called “right-to work” legislation into law:
“One year ago, Governor Snyder rushed a divisive and anti-worker ‘right-to-work’ law through the Michigan Legislature. Today, I ask a simple question: where are the jobs that were promised because of this law? A year later, there isn’t a single example of a company that has come to Michigan because our state is now a ‘right-to-work’ state. Nor has the Governor’s ‘right-to-work’ law created good-paying jobs like he had promised. In fact, over the last year, Michigan’s unemployment rate has risen to 9 percent – two points higher than the rest of the country.
“A year later, Michiganders can clearly see Governor Snyder’s motivation for pushing through this bad law. It wasn’t to create jobs, as he had promised, but rather a thinly-veiled attempt to roll back the rights of workers.”", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://web.archive.org/web/20140919104739/http://dankildee.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/statement-by-congressman-dan-kildee-on-anniversary-of-so-called-right-to
