Sean Duffy introduces bill to allow Wisconsinites in \u2018orphan\u2019 counties to access Wisconsin programming\nWASHINGTON, DC \u2013 As Wisconsinites face the first Packers blackout of the season this weekend \u00addue to scheduling conflicts,\u00a0U.S. Representative Sean Duffy\u00a0introduced legislation that would give all Packers fans the ability to root for the home team, in their homes. H.R. 5585, The Granting Our People Access to Channel Choice (GO PACC) Act would allow Wisconsinites who currently reside in the Twin Cities viewing area the ability to access Wisconsin television broadcasts if they so choose. Currently, many residents from seven counties neighboring Minnesota, known as \u201corphan counties\u2019, do not have access to Wisconsin television broadcasts. GO PACC\u00a0would bring Wisconsin programming to the region.\nRep. Duffy\u00a0offered, \u201cIn Wisconsin, football season means Packers season. But some Wisconsinites may miss as many as 10 Packers games this season due to conflicting football schedules. GO PACC will allow households to continue to access their current programming, but also give residents the choice to access Wisconsin news, weather and sports \u2013 including Packers games. This is a choice Wisconsinites deserve the opportunity to make.\u201d \u00a0\nGO PACC would provide local programming to Wisconsin residents in the seven border counties by allowing them to access in-state, over-the-air broadcasting. Cable or satellite subscribers may choose to keep their current broadcasting, elect the Wisconsin broadcasting or - for an additional fee - obtain both market broadcasts.
