{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://web.archive.org/web/20140923132223/http://brooks.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=25&itemid=1089", "Brooks House Floor Speech Emphasizes HealthCare.Gov Cyber-Security Risks", "2013-12-04", "2013", "2013-12", "Republican", "House", "AL", "Mo Brooks", "B001274", "web.archive.org", null, null, "legacy", "Washington, D.C.\u2013 Standing before the U.S. House this morning, in an effort to protect hardworking Americans, who may unknowingly subject themselves to\u00a0identity theft and cyber-attack risks, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) emphasized Science, Space, and Technology (SST) Committee hearing testimony that warns the public of the ObamaCare website, HealthCare.Gov, cyber-security risks.\n\n\t\u00a0\n\n\tDuring his remarks, Congressman Brooks emphasized three written statements by the committee\u2019s bipartisan expert panel.\u00a0 First, that \u201cthere are clear indicators that even basic security was not built into the HealthCare.Gov website.\u201d\u00a0 Second, that \u201cthe vast amount of [HealthCare.Gov computer program] code also means applying industry standards security practices is a task that can have no real chance of success.\u201d\u00a0 And, third, that HealthCare.Gov \u201ccreates massive opportunity for fraud, scams, deceptive trade practices, identity theft, and more.\u201d\u00a0\n\n\t\u00a0\n\n\tBrooks added that the reply from the bipartisan panel of experts, when asked whether they could recommend the public use HealthCare.Gov given its cyber security weaknesses, \u201cwas a stunning and unanimous no, do not use HealthCare.Gov because the security risks associated with the website are simply too great.\u201d\n\n\t\u00a0\n\n\tBrooks warned that, \u201cHealthCare.Gov, is the mother load for identity theft, internet fraud and other criminal activity,\u201d and that, \u201cbased on their expert advice, I \u2026 encourage all Americans to avoid HealthCare.Gov, the ObamaCare website, in any way, shape or form until its cyber-security risks are fixed.\u201d\n\n\t\u00a0\n\n\tBrooks concluded by noting that, \u201cIf these experts are right, and if you are an American citizen who obeys ObamaCare dictates and you suffer from identify theft or other financial losses, the White House response is essentially, \u2018Tough luck.\u00a0You are on your own.\u2019\u201d\n\n\t\u00a0\n\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\t\u00a0\u00a0 Video of Congressman Brooks\u2019 remarks is available HERE.\n\t\n\t\t\u00a0\n\t\n\t\t###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20140923132223/http://brooks.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=25&itemid=1089"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.4336570166051388, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
