While the U.S. has made significant contributions to improve nutrition and agriculture worldwide, one in nine around world suffer from chronic hunger. A lack of adequate, nutritious food can harm the development of young children and can contribute to instability in some countries. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\nThis is why I am working to keep our commitment to fighting chronic hunger and malnutrition.\u00a0\nThe Global Food Security Act of 2014, which I have introduced along with U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA), Mike Johanns (R-NE), Chris Coons (D-DE), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), and Ben Cardin (D-MD) to combat hunger across the globe, improve nutrition in developing countries, and bolster U.S. security.\u00a0\nThe Global Food Security Act of 2014 would:\n \nHighlight the role that agricultural development plays in inclusive economic growth, especially for women and small-scale producers.\nRequire the Administration to develop a whole-of-government strategy to address global food insecurity and malnutrition.\u00a0\nEmphasize the importance of leveraging resources and expertise from U.S. academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, faith-based groups, private voluntary organizations, and the private sector.\nImprove upon existing monitoring and evaluation practices to ensure the effective use of U.S. taxpayer dollars.\u00a0\n \nLearn more about the Global Food Security Act of 2014.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://web.archive.org/web/20141017004012/http://www.boozman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/dr-boozman-s-check-up?ContentRecord_id=4df695c1-6005-44d5-a516-994e49e9a23c"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9761718101799488, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
