Throughout this session of Congress, my subcommittee has held a series of hearings focused on manufacturing. We\u2019ve learned there are good paying jobs that can\u2019t be filled because of a skills gap across the country including in my Congressional district where manufacturers can\u2019t find welders to hire starting at $17 per hour.\n\u00a0\u201cWhile I\u2019m pleased to see the President\u2019s commitment to invest in STEM-related education and research, it should be noted that executive orders are not a way to grow our economy. We need policies in place that allow our nation of builders to be more competitive.
