During this meeting, leaders from 11 organizations, including the VA and local veterans service organizations, reported on the work they've accomplished over the last five months to better coordinate care for veterans.
“The responsibility of caring for veterans belongs to more than the VA; it belongs to all of us,” said Sinema. “This veterans mental health group strengthens the community partnerships needed to provide Arizona veterans with both the short-term and long-term care they need and deserve.”
“The veteran service community has a lot of moving pieces and can be difficult to navigate,” said Alex Taylor, La Frontera EMPACT’s Military Liaison. “But with all the providers big and small communicating and coordinating, the veterans in our community will get better service with fewer people falling through the cracks. We will also be better able to identify problems before they become crisis situations. The Congresswoman’s leadership on veteran issues has been integral in getting all the resources working together to create a healthier veteran community.”
The veterans mental health group plays a key role in coordinating care for veterans, and by bringing together the VA and community providers, it is changing the community's approach to veteran care. During yesterday's meeting, Sinema gave an update on Congressional and community-level action to support Arizona veterans, heard from the Phoenix Medical Center about steps it is taking to improve the quality and timeliness of care, and heard a report from the mental health sub-group that has worked closely to improve coordinated care for veterans in Maricopa County.
Veterans and organizations interested in learning more about the veterans mental health group can contact Congresswoman Sinema’s district office at 602-956-2285.

###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://web.archive.org/web/20141030200114/http://sinema.house.gov/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=FDFC7D94-E8AE-43D2-9389-2F8427E41080
