{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://web.archive.org/web/20141126071041/http://mcclintock.house.gov:80/2014/11/statement-on-presidents-amnesty-order.shtml", "Statement on the President's Amnesty Order", "2014-11-21", "2014", "2014-11", "Republican", "House", "CA", "Tom McClintock", "M001177", "web.archive.org", null, null, "legacy", "Congressman McClintock today released the following statement in response to the\u00a0President\u2019s amnesty order:  \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Last night, the President asserted a power to nullify existing immigration law by ordering the executive branch to ignore it. \u00a0Further, he has ordered 34 million green cards to make possible the employment of illegal immigrants despite federal law that makes their employment a crime. \u00a0This is a direct violation of his responsibility under Article II to \u201ctake care that the laws be faithfully executed,\u201d and a usurpation of legislative authority which Article I grants solely to Congress. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The rule of law established in our Constitution forbids the President from selecting which laws he will enforce and which he will ignore or from choosing who must obey the law and who is above the law. \u00a0It explicitly forbids him to make law by decree.
