{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://womack.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398726", "Womack Announces Winner of Second Annual AR-3 Congressional App Challenge", "2016-12-19", "2016", "2016-12", "Republican", "House", "AR", "Steve Womack", "W000809", "womack.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, the Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academic Competition, also known as the \u2018Congressional App Challenge,\u2019 is designed to engage student creativity and encourage their participation in STEM education fields.\u00a0 This competition is part of a nationwide event that allows high school students from across the country to compete by creating and exhibiting their own software application, or \u2018app,\u2019 for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.\r\nHosted by Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3), the Challenge was open to all high school students in Arkansas\u2019s Third District.\u00a0 From the 11 entries, the winner was selected by a panel judges from the community, including Jeff Amerine of Startup Junkie Consulting, Phyl Amerine of Startup Junkie Consulting, Jessica Boyd of Community Venture Foundation, and Jim Kane of Gemini Development.\r\nToday, Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) hosted an award ceremony, where he announced that Caroline Gschwend, who is homeschooled in Rogers, won first place for her app titled \u201cdefendUS,\u201d an educational game that explores American history \u201cin a fun and exciting way.\u201d\u00a0 Caroline\u2019s app will be displayed at a kiosk in the U.S. Capitol.\u00a0\r\n\u201cThe Congressional App Challenge is an opportunity for Third District high schoolers to showcase their incredible creativity and innovation, and I am proud of every student who participated in this year\u2019s competition,\u201d Womack said.\u00a0 \u201cMy sincerest congratulations to Caroline Gschwend of Rogers for her winning app, \u2018defendUS.\u2019\u00a0 It is clear Caroline has a bright future ahead of her, and I look forward to seeing her app on display in the Capitol!\u201d\u00a0\r\n\r\n\r\n    \r\n        \r\n            \r\n        \r\n    \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCongressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas\u2019s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.\r\n\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://womack.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398726"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.4882450923323631, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
