Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today made the following statement after the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services approved a $139,536 federal grant to help continue a successful program that supports the training of physicians at St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.\r\n\u201cThis federal funding to help train pediatricians is great news for the thousands of children from around the globe who come to the world-renowned St. Jude for treatment.\u201d\r\nIn 2013, Alexander co-sponsored the Children\u2019s Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act, which reauthorized support for the Children\u2019s Graduate Medical Education Program \u2013 a program that trains doctors at freestanding children\u2019s hospitals, including St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital.
