The Phoenix Innovation Park is a potential 250-acre addition to the campus that will allow research and instruction in water, advanced manufacturing, and economic development.\n\nIn Kaukauna, Senator Baldwin toured the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 400 Training Facility and discussed their federally supported apprenticeship program that provides students with a state-of-the-art, technologically advanced, industry-sanctioned training from the industry\u2019s highest trained instructors. Senator Baldwin has worked to include increased funding for the registered apprenticeship program in appropriations bills, including fighting for $303 million in the upcoming fiscal year 2023 annual appropriations legislation.\n\nSenator Baldwin also hosted in a roundtable discussion with Local 400 members and apprentices about workforce training, including the Baldwin-supported Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which is making historic investments in Wisconsin\u2019s infrastructure and creating family-supporting jobs across the trades. Under the IIJA, Wisconsin is set to receive $841 million over five years to improve water infrastructure across the state to ensure every community has access to clean, safe drinking water, which the Local 400 is training the next generation of plumbers and steamfitters who will make that investment a reality.\n\nVideo footage from Senator Baldwin\u2019s visit can be found here.\n\nIn Ozaukee County, Senator Baldwin joined a group of women in agriculture at Dream Apple Farms, a United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Value Added Producer grant recipient of $49,500 that was used to better market, distribute, and process their organic, locally-grown apples and products. Senator Baldwin helped include $13 million in the 2022 fiscal year appropriations legislation for the Value Added Producer grant program and is fighting to include the same amount in the upcoming year\u2019s budget.
