The funding will support Phase 2 of the AMEF project, constructing two grain storage silos, purchasing additional grain handling equipment, and acquiring new equipment to move products between storage and vessels. In April, Senator Baldwin called on DOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg to fund this project.\n\n\u201cPort Milwaukee plays a critical role in connecting our Wisconsin farmers and businesses to markets across the world,\u201d said Senator Baldwin. \u201cI\u2019m proud to help deliver this next investment to strengthen our maritime commerce, create jobs in Milwaukee, and grow Made in Wisconsin economy.\u201d\n\n\u201cToday\u2019s announcement of a more than $9mil Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) Grant from the US Department of Transportation will allow Port Milwaukee to construct Phase 2 of the Agriculture Maritime Export Facility,\u201d said Mayor Cavalier Johnson. \u201cThis grant further cements Port Milwaukee as a vital hub for international agricultural commerce, which benefits not only the City of Milwaukee but the entire State of Wisconsin.
