We cannot lose sight of this goal right now because it has never been more important to provide hope for something better,\u201d said Senator Baldwin. \u201cThis resolution doubles down on decades of U.S. foreign policy \u2013 from both Democrats and Republicans \u2013 that recognizes lasting peace in the region relies on the Israeli and Palestinian peoples having their own states. While a two-state solution is our North Star, we cannot stop the pressure to end this war, bring all remaining Israeli hostages home, and surge aid to Palestinian civilians suffering.\u201d\n\nThe resolution calls for U.S. recognition of a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside a secure Israel, in accordance with international law and the principles of a two-state solution.
