This announcement comes after Senator Baldwin sent a letter earlier this month to U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx requesting that he make funding available to help repair roads and bridges damaged by recent storms in western Wisconsin.\r\n\u201cRecent flooding has severely damaged many important roads and bridges in communities throughout western Wisconsin,\u201d said Senator Baldwin. \u201cThese emergency funds will provide relief to communities and help ensure Wisconsinites have safe access to food, water, gas and other necessities.\u201d\r\nA total of $1,615,000 in \u201cquick release\u201d funding will be used to stabilize, rebuild and repair damaged embankments, roadways and bridges.\u00a0\r\nLast week, Senator Baldwin also announced a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) major disaster declaration by President Obama for ten western Wisconsin counties affected by the September flooding that made federal funds available to repair damaged public infrastructure.
