Jim Banks (R-Ind.): \u201cWe have a lot of superheroes around the state, a lot of mayors, local, state, and federal officials who are on the ground working to make sure that we do everything we can to help those who have been impacted. My staff and I have been traveling all over the state this past week, meeting with officials, and playing whatever role we can to connect FEMA and the federal government with our local officials. I have been so impressed with mayors all over the state who have done heroic work to help. It\u2019s going to be a long road ahead, a lot of cleanups, and things to rebuild. But it\u2019s Indiana; we come together in times like these.\u201d\n\n\u201cPresident Trump\u2019s declaration last Saturday\u2014he called me on Saturday to let me know he was signing it, to let me know that he loves Indiana, and he wants to make sure we have everything we need to rebuild. He understands the severity of the impact of the storms, and thankfully that immediately unlocks resources and federal agencies. That doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s not going to be a rough road ahead. There is going to be more we need to do to rebuild roads and bridges and repair homes and businesses that have been impacted. The state of Indiana will work with us at the federal level to make sure Indiana gets everything it needs to rebuild.\u201d\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s going to take a while to figure out everything that we need to advocate for the state, but we are well on our way because of Governor Braun\u2019s leadership, President Trump\u2019s support, and the bipartisan federal delegation. Senator Todd Young and I, and the nine other representatives, representing every corner of the state, are all working together to make sure Indiana gets everything that we need to rebuild and help those who need it most.\u201d\n\nKey Excerpts on the Freedom 250\u2013IndyCar Grand Prix:\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a lot of fun; we are showing off the best of America, which happens to be the best of Indiana when it comes to racing. IndyCar on the streets of Washington, D.C., celebrating America 250, the Freedom 250 race, 250 miles representing the 250 years of the greatest country in the history of the world, and what better way to do that than to bring IndyCar to Washington, D.C. It\u2019s going to be a lot of fun for the whole country to come together and see this race\u201d\n\n\u201c250 between the Capitol Building and the White House along the National Mall. The drivers will see the Washington Monument on one side and the Capitol on the other side. I have talked to a number of the drivers, and they are all so excited; there has never been a race on the streets of Washington, D.C. before, there might not ever be one again.
