The Party of High Prices and Open Borders.\u201d\n\nWASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) recently spoke on the Senate floor about Vice President Kamala Harris\u2019s dangerously liberal track record of high prices and open borders. Senator Barrasso compared her failures with Senate Republican solutions to get America back on track.\n\nClick here to watch Senator Barrasso\u2019s full remarks.\n\nSenator Barrasso\u2019s Remarks:\n\n\u201cLast week, Mr. Biden gave what many consider his Farewell Address. Americans are eager to say farewell \u2013 and in many ways, good riddance \u2013 to Joe Biden and the policies that he brought along with the Democrats upon our country. It\u2019s been a record of ruin.\n\n\u201cWhen Americans look at the state of the nation today, they don\u2019t like what they see. Three out of four Americans will tell you the country is heading in the wrong direction.\n\n\u201cPrices are 20% higher than they were when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris came into office. People are forced to cut back, forced to decide whether they can fill their gas tanks or their grocery carts. According to CNN, nearly 40% of all Americans say they worry they can\u2019t pay their bills.\n\n\u201cSo how did we get here? Democrats passed trillions of dollars in reckless and radical and runaway spending.\n\n\u201cIt was so unpopular as a proposal \u2013 and Congress heard from the American people how unpopular it was \u2013 it was so unpopular that at a point it was tied, the vote, and then they had to bring in someone to break the tie.\n\n\u201cWho was that person who cast that tie-breaking vote that brought us 40-year high inflation, the highest prices in 40 years for which so many people suffer today? That person was Vice President Kamala Harris.\n\n\u201cThat\u2019s right. Vice President Harris, who is now the nominee of the Democrat Party running for president. She is the one that came into this chamber to cast the vote to break the tie that fueled the highest prices that we continue to experience today.\n\n\u201cWe also have a very long, national nightmare occurring at our southern border. That is yet another result of the dangerously liberal agenda of Vice President Harris.\n\n\u201cWe had a secure border four years ago. Then, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris came into the White House. Biden and Harris canceled the border wall. Biden-Harris canceled remain in Mexico. They replaced detain and deport with catch and release.\n\n\u201cPresident Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris presided over an invasion of our southern border by 10 million illegal immigrants. Since the time Vice President Harris was appointed as Border Czar, millions and millions of illegal immigrants have come into the country. Millions and millions of more known got-aways hiding from authorities have gotten into this country. In total we\u2019re looking at 10 million illegal immigrants now in our communities.\n\n\u201cMany communities across this country are overrun and overwhelmed. Yet Joe Biden and Kamala Harris don\u2019t seem to care. They don\u2019t seem to care about the drugs and the death and the destruction that are harming American families from coast to coast.\n\n\u201cVice President Harris has a view of border security that to me is particularly twisted and tortured. Here is her view, as she stated it.\n\n\u201cBasically, if you\u2019re an illegal immigrant, you\u2019re not a criminal, according to Kamala Harris. But if you are an agent of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, in her words, you\u2019re comparable to the Ku Klux Klan. That\u2019s from the Vice President of the United States.\n\n\u201cShe also believes this: if you\u2019re illegal immigrant, you\u2019re entitled to free health care. If an American citizen, she proposes that you would actually you lose your ability to choose your health care and private health care would be eliminated. No private health care for American citizens, who would then be forced to pay for health care for illegal immigrants.\n\n\u201cThat is the view of the Vice President of the United States, and now the candidate for President by the Democrat Party. It is ignorant. It is insulting. And it is out of touch.\n\n\u201cIf her views are America\u2019s policy, millions and millions more illegal immigrants will continue to flood across our southern border. It\u2019s a magnet drawing people in.\n\n\u201cIt wasn\u2019t that way four years ago under the Trump administration. Back then, paychecks rose, prices were in check, and poverty fell at record rates. America was energy independent. Gas prices were affordable. Our border was safe and was secure.\n\n\u201cNone of that is true today. Not under this administration or these policies of the Biden-Harris administration.\n\n\u201cDemocrats and this administration, at this time in our country, will always be known as the Party of High Prices and Open Borders. Most Americans believe that our country is on the wrong track, and I believe most Americans are right. We are on the wrong track.\n\n\u201cThere\u2019s good news, and that\u2019s that America can get back on track. We can get back on track with common sense policies, policies that work, policies the American people are asking for.\n\n\u201cSenate Republicans have solutions to the most pressing problems that are facing the American public today.\n\n\u201cFirst, we\u2019re going to address the number one issue facing Americans. Americans will tell you the number one issue they\u2019re concerned about, that\u2019s the economy, the cost of things. We\u2019re going to make life more affordable for all families. That starts with making us energy dominant again and lowering the cost of energy. Republicans will put a stop to Democrats\u2019 punishing, political regulations that are just coming at us like a tidal wave since the day this administration began. We will end America\u2019s dependence on Communist China. We will strengthen American manufacturing, and we will put American workers and businesses first.\n\n\u201cRepublicans also have solutions that will make our communities safer. Republicans will secure the border. We will finish the wall. Republicans will restore a program that worked called Remain in Mexico. This will stop the flood of illegal immigrants and the flow of deadly drugs.\n\n\u201cRepublicans support our police officers, and we stand against the deadly defund the police movement \u2013 the very movement that Kamala Harris and Democrats proudly support. Kamala Harris actually came into this chamber to break the tie for radical nominees by this administration, a number of whom support defunding the police. That\u2019s the stand and that\u2019s the policy of the Biden-Harris administration.\n\n\u201cAbroad, Republicans will restore America\u2019s commitment to peace through strength. Here in the Senate, Republicans will protect our institutions and protect the rule of law. We firmly reject Democrats\u2019 plans to pack the court and rig the elections.\n\n\u201cThese are solutions that unite Americans.\n\n\u201cJoe Biden is leaving behind a catastrophic record of ruin. We cannot afford four more years of these policies. Yet what we see is Vice President Harris and Democrats want to nationalize the dangerously liberal policies of San Francisco Democrats. And that\u2019s what she is, a very liberal, dangerous San Francisco Democrat. That\u2019s her history.\n\n\u201cNow, her voting record in the United States Senate, she was voted the most liberal member of the United States Senate. More liberal than Bernie Sanders. The most liberal of 100 United States Senators.\n\n\u201cWhat we see is that, as Vice President and now presidential nominee, she wants to bring the California nightmare of high taxes, high crime, and no accountability to every household in America. These policies would crush the middle class.\n\n\u201cWhat do Americans want? Lower prices and secure borders. What are the Democrats? The Party of High Prices and Open Borders.\n\n\u201cSenate Republicans will lower Democrats\u2019 wallet-wrecking high prices.
