The senators worked to include Colorado priorities and water infrastructure investments as part of the biennial legislation that addresses nationwide water management, flood control, ecosystem restoration, and long-term clean water projects.\n\n\u201cAs Colorado communities face a hotter and drier future, we need to continue to invest in our water infrastructure. I\u2019m grateful that these projects received bipartisan support in today\u2019s Senate Committee vote. I\u2019ll keep working to move these projects and funding through Congress so we can protect Colorado\u2019s vital waterways and resources for the next generation,\u201d said Bennet.\n\n\u201cFloods and droughts alike strain Colorado\u2019s water infrastructure,\u201d said Hickenlooper. \u201cThese investments will equip our communities to build stronger, more reliable waterways and healthier ecosystems.\u201d\n\nThis legislation includes important funding and new authorities for Colorado, including:\n\n$20 million for El Paso County to help address a variety of water supply and stormwater management needs;\n\nAuthorization for the Templeton Gap Levee, Mountain and Fountain Creeks Study on the ecosystem restoration of a 7-mile stretch of Monument and Fountain Creeks and the rehabilitation of the 2-mile-long Templeton Gap levee in Colorado Springs, which will promote water quality and mitigate flood risk;\n\nSouth Platte River Projects Study from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Government Accountability Office to speed up the completion of two projects to promote healthy waterways along the South Platte River and neighboring Denver water systems;\n\nIncreasing federal support from $10 million to $15 million for the majority of USACE\u2019s Continuing Authorities Programs (CAPs) \u2013 smaller-scale projects to reduce flood damages and restore aquatic ecosystems; and\n\nReauthorizing the National Dam Safety Program to continue the repair and removal of potentially hazardous dams.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T18:12:30Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.bennet.senate.gov/2024/05/23/press-releases-id-1bad3b6e-b289-4c8d-a6c6-0319c3e1d321/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8211880922317505, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
