WRDA is passed every two years to authorize projects that address water management, flood control, ecosystem restoration, and long-term clean water priorities. The legislation now heads to President Biden\u2019s desk to be signed into law.\n\n\u201cColorado and the West are on the front lines of climate change. That\u2019s why it\u2019s more important than ever to invest in water infrastructure that can meet our state\u2019s changing needs,\u201d said Bennet. \u201cI\u2019m grateful for the passage of this important package to protect Colorado\u2019s vital waterways and resources.\u201d\n\n\u201cThese investments equip our communities with more resilient infrastructure,\u201d said Hickenlooper. \u201cWe need to harden our infrastructure to be sure we can handle more erratic weather.\u201d\n\nThe final legislation includes the following Colorado projects:\n\n$20 million authorized for El Paso County to address water supply and stormwater management;\n\n$50 million authorized for Fremont County for water supply infrastructure needs;\n\nA feasibility study of a project to restore ecosystems along Monument and Fountain Creeks and to rehabilitate the Templeton Gap Levee in Colorado Springs;\n\nA U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and U.S. Government Accountability Office study to help speed the completion of two projects to promote healthy waterways along the South Platte River and neighboring water systems in the Denver area; and\n\nA boost in the federal share for assistance from USACE for Continuing Authorities Programs (CAPs) to allow USACE to participate in smaller-scale projects to reduce flood damages and restore aquatic ecosystems.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T19:07:19Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.bennet.senate.gov/2024/12/23/bennet-hickenlooper-celebrate-final-passage-of-bipartisan-water-infrastructure-bill/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6105026006698608, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
