{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.billnelson.senate.gov/newsroom/news/new-air-force-drone-squadron-coming-to-panama-city", "New Air Force drone squadron coming to Panama City", "2017-11-28", "2017", "2017-11", "Democrat", "House", "FL", "Bill Nelson", "N000032", "www.billnelson.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "The Air Force said they've chosen Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City to base its new squadron of unmanned aerial drones.\n\u00a0\nSenator Bill Nelson, a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, received a phone call Tuesday afternoon from Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson, who gave him the news.\n\u00a0\n\u201cThis is a big win not only for Panama City, but for the entire state of Florida,\u201d Nelson said. \u201cThe 1,400 airmen and their families that will soon be heading to the area will provide a tremendous boost to the local economy.\u201d\n\u00a0\nTyndall AFB was chosen from four finalists the Air Force named in 2016.\n\u00a0\nThe other three finalists were Eglin AFB, Shaw AFB in South Carolina, and Vandenberg AFB in California.\n\u00a0\nThe Air Force\u2019s MQ-9 Reaper is a remotely piloted aircraft capable of loitering at high altitudes for extended periods of time, giving it a unique capability in surveilling and targeting high-value, fleeting, and time-sensitive targets.
